A magical marriage of Commedia dell’Arte and opera buffa, this 50-minute show is a lively romp, featuring music, magic, physical gags and animal transformations. It is a great introduction to the characters and madcap spirit of Commedia dell’Arte. The songs can be pattered, or music is available upon request.
This piece was originally presented by the Seattle Opera, with the objective of introducing classical music and theatre to students. The production emphasized imagination and fun. Groups intending to produce the script now can learn much from studying the Commedia dell’Arte – but should allow their own sense of comedy to have free reign.
